Bit of a write up for today’s picks.
England League 1
This evening in the English league 1 at 7.45pm Charlton host Rochdale.
Charlton currently sit 5th in the league and a win tonight could take them to within one point of the automatic promotion places. Rochdale are down in 22nd and well and truly in a relegation battle. So both sides will have something to play for this evening full stop
Charlton have managed to win five of the eight home games so far this season. Rochdale, on the other hand, have not won any of their nine away games and have lost 4. Although tokens should win this fixture the game could well be a lot closer than many expect. Both sides of something to play 4 and a win for Rochdale would lift them out of the relegation zone, however, I can’t see them getting their first win away of the season at Charlton tonight. the Asian line on Charlton is -0.5, -1 and as they have not been free-scoring at home or away this season I’m going to avoid that and just take the straight win.

Staying in league one and heading up North we look at Wigan. Wigan currently sit second and boast the best goal difference in the League of + 19. This evening they host Doncaster who sit in 17th. Wigan are coming into this game off the back of a surprise home loss to Bradford last time out and their first home league loss since March. They will be keen to get back to winning ways and should do so tonight against lowly Doncaster. Wigan have one of the best defences in the league and Doncaster are one of the league’s lowest scorers with just 19 in total for the season.

Our third pick today is again from league one where bottom Club Bury host top placed Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury have won 5/9 of their away matches this season while Bury have lost 5/9 of their home matches. Considering the difference in class between the two squads and the current form of both teams this should be a routine win for Shrewsbury. I generally tend to avoid picking away sides to win but I’m going to buck that trend today as I can’t ignore the price that Shrewsbury are being offered for.

UEFA Champions League
Pep’s blue half of Manchester continue what appears to be an inevitable run towards a trophy-laden season. Tonight Manchester City take on Feyenoord in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. City are breaking records domestically in the league o far this season, whilst Feyenoord are having a pretty average season in comparison sitting in 7th place in the Dutch league.
As well as sitting on top of the Premier League City also top their Champions League group with an almost flawless record PL4 and won 4 with a +9 goal difference. The reverse of this fixture at the back end of September was all over by half-time with City already 3-0 in front. We could see the same this evening if Pep plays a strong lineup. They are far too short to play for the win but if they get off to the fast start I expect, then City to win at halftime with over 1.5 goals very much appeals. You may want to wait until team news is confirmed later this evening, this is one of the later kickoffs at 8:45 p.m. tonight, and is currently 2.25.
