An updated guide to the Quick Stats and Best Markets pages

Evening All

I have been meaning to do this for a while since the updates but this is where we are at currently.

Guide to Quick Stats

The main stats page for today’s and tomorrow’s fixtures. Currently covering 372 competitions and 63 different markets. Percentages and average game totals are taken from each team’s respective home and away performance in that competition over the past 12 months. Matches are presented as game panels in the black banner. The home team is stated first and the away team below them. The bracketed number after the team name is their current position in that league. To the left of each team name, you will see up to 5 boxes showing that team’s current form in that league respectively whether they are home or away. If you click on one of these teams in the panel banner a new page will open up taking you directly to the fixture on soccerway which allows you to drill deeper into the games if you wish.

Low probabilities and low average game totals are excluded to leave meaningful data i.e. you are only presented with markets that have had a 51% or higher strike rate over the past 12 months for the markets that are assigned percentages. For corner and card markets with values, they vary by league using the league average of the past 12 months as the “measure” of performance.

So, for example, the variance between corner averages in The Greek Football League which has averaged 7 match corners over the past 12 months with Brazil Paulista A1 that has averaged 11 is significant. So a match corner count of 9 in Greece would be considered high, whilst the same corner count in Brazil would be considered low.

The same approach was taken for the card markets; for example, the German Bundesliga has averaged 3 match cards over the past 12 months whilst Colombia B averages 6. This is particularly significant for corners as the books match total pre-game line can vary significantly between leagues whereas the books pre-game goal line is pretty much the standard 2.5 everywhere.

So onto the page itself, at the top before the match lists are 3 main filter options (the black bars). Filter matches, markets, and competitions.

Filter Matches

Main control for what you want to display. 6 filters in here and we will go through them. “Show Inplay games only” is pretty self-explanatory the page will only display those games currently inplay, the page is set to auto-refresh every minute so should be pretty accurate for timings. Filter 2, “exclude expired games” is default checked so that you do not see games that have already finished. If you do want to see the games you have missed for the day uncheck that box. Then we have 4 main filters for minimum totals and percentages, goals, corners, cards and minimum market percentages. Set these to what you want to see or just leave them blank to see the full day’s listing.

Filter Markets

The filter for those that want to drill down deep into games. All markets are included by default, if you wish to look at just one or a few markets check the exclude all markets box and then scroll down and check the markets you want to look at. Here you can filter 63 markets for the minimum percentages. The next checkbox is “hide panels if no markets shown”, it is set to “on” as default and does what it says on the tin. e.g. if you search for over 2.5 goals above 60% that is all you will see and game panels that do not meet that criteria will not be displayed. The fourth checkbox, “only show if all filtered markets match” when checked will only display the game panels that meet the minimum percentages that you have selected. e.g. If looking for a home win over 38%, BTTS above 50% and over 2.5 match goals above 50% then only game panels that meet the 3 criterion will display. Below this, you then have the individual markets you can filter against to whatever percentage you are looking for.

Filter Competitions

The default is set to include all competitions, but if you want results just for specific competitions check the “Exclude all competitions box” then select the competitions you want from the listing displayed over the two days.

Guide to the Best Markets

Throughout the main quick stats page, there are fixtures that have stars against particular markets. These signify that it is one of the highest probabilities for that market for the day. These are then collated together in one place – the Best Markets Page.

Thanks for reading and the main menu for all the stats pages on the blog is thetippingtimes.com/quick-stats-menu

Will add a post tomorrow regarding the other stats pages.
