The Tipping Times Community – Your Opportunity To Join!

Afternoon All,

Back at the start of the season, I had an idea to start a betting community outside of Twitter. As an experiment. The purpose was to create a dedicated space for stats and sports, in a supportive community. A place without the noise, distractions, and negativity that Twitter can bring to many.

We are now seven months in, and in my personal opinion, it’s been a success. Members help each other on a daily basis, and to me, it feels like an extended family. It is not some “magic cave” that will guarantee to make you rich, it is a group of guys that can talk freely about their fancies on the footy and other sports. Below is what a member of the community wrote in there in January this year;

As a founder member of this group, I thought it would be a good idea to share some of my experiences. You would think that been in this group for 3-4 months would mean that I’m well in profit. Sadly this is not the case. Most months, I’m just about breaking even. Don’t get me wrong, I have had some good months too. This group is excellent, but it is not this mystical magical money making machine that some of Mark’s Twitter followers who are not in this group seem to believe.

I have enjoyed the ride so far. I’m really appreciative of been in this group and have learnt a lot along the way. There is a feel good factor within a supportive group, even when on a losing run! One of my favourite memories was the first time I shouted a roller, we made £50+ in 3 bets from an initial 50p stake. I should have retired at this point, as I’ve never been able to replicate this. I’ve been close a few times and they can be a good laugh, especially after a few beers. If you’re relying on these to make money, then you’re struggling. This is why I never start with more than 50p.

Every now and then, I get this urge to have a bet, almost like a compulsion. I usually get these when gambling fairly heavily for a period of time. For me, I know that it’s getting on top of me, so I’ll take a few days off and put the DND on.

You will see plenty of success stories in here e.g. people turning £5-70. This is great to see, but just because one person might be good at this, doesn’t mean that you will be. If you are on a purple patch, then by all means give it a go. I wouldn’t try them if you’re on a losing run, unless you try turn ¼ point into a full point (or similar).

My recommendations (I’m no expert though!)

  1. Find a niche – what markets are you good at?
  2. Have time out if you need it
  3. Don’t try and get on every bet posted in the group. If you have time, consider why someone has shouted a bet. Let’s face it; they will be some reason behind it. If you don’t have time to do this or you have your doubts then leave it. You haven’t missed out as it wasn’t your bet in the first place
  4. Don’t place too many bets on one game – especially if on a bad run. If you do, break down the bets, so the total is no more than a point
  5. If on a losing run, don’t chase losses. Take time out or follow someone who is performing well. If you’re doing this, still do your own research on it. You might find angles that you haven’t previously considered
  6. If you say to yourself – today’s fixtures are shocking. Find something else to do!
  7. Keep a P/L – if you don’t have time to do this, you’re probably putting too many bets on.
  8. Stick to a sensible staking plan. There are people in the group who stake high, but they can afford it. I’m more of a quid a go guy!

Good luck and best wishes

As you may expect, based on my blog and my following, 90% of the chat and discussion is around footy, but we also have rooms for other sports such as the horses, and the US Sports (NBA, NHL & NFL).

The community has many features built into it, for example, you can DM other members if you want to and you can also set reminders for yourself, eg. KO time of a particular game, or set it to remind you when a game reaches, say the 60th minute and also what market you were looking at for that game.

I am unsure what the level of interest will be to become a member of our community, but I may have to cap it if excessive. So, if you think this is something that would interest you then please click on the apply button below.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and as always best of luck with your betting.

Regards,

Mark
